The Good News Shared website launched a year ago today with the aim of spreading uplifting charitable news stories with people around the world. Since we went live on the 16th April 2014 we have featured 332 inspiring stories, which have been read by thousands of people globally.

It's our birthday today!

I’m grateful for all the support given

This website wouldn’t be here without the support of a lot of people. I’ve been supported in numerous ways, including:

  • Mentoring
  • Website design
  • Website updates
  • Desk space
  • Proof reading
  • Writing stories

.. And more!

Check out this post to see how I’ve been thanking people!

Thank YOU for reading and sharing

I’m really grateful to you for reading the stories we feature, and for sharing them. We launched as quickly as we could with the plan of testing the idea, and if no one read the stories we would stop writing them. We only exist because you read and enjoy the stories – if you didn’t read them, we wouldn’t be here.

I wish I could thank every single reader individually but, as far as I’m aware this isn’t possible, so I hope you will read this post and know it was meant for you.

I have been able to thank a small number of people individually using two different methods. Check out this post to see which methods I have been using.

What’s in store for our second year?

  1. Website redesign: This summer we are hoping to redesign the website. We will still be featuring inspiring charitable content, but the website will look a little different. The aim is to make it easier for you to navigate through the site so you can see more of the stories featured, and to make the site load even faster than it does now.
  1. Proving good news does sell: When I have told people about Good News Shared many have asked me how it will make any money. The idea was always to donate any profits to small charities – something we have not been able to do yet because there hasn’t been any profit! ‘Good news doesn’t sell’ is a well known saying, but after this last year and the interest in Good News Shared I am more confident than ever before that good news can sell. Now, I just need to prove it! There is a real appetite for positive news – make sure you come back in a couple of days to read about some of the other websites that share positive news.

If you would like to help me prove that good news does sell please get in touch with me here.

Good News Shared Highlights

I have been looking back at the stories we have featured in our first year and have put together some highlights. I’ll be posting these over the next few days so make sure you come back to see them.

Do you have a favourite Good News Shared story? I’d love to hear what it is – please get in touch via Facebook or Twitter, or send me a message.
