In this moving video, watch the gorgeous Gerard Butler engaging with children in Liberia, where he went to see Mary’s Meals in action and observe their feeding programme. Butler came into contact with Mary’s Meals in 2010, when he presented the  charity’s founder and CEO, Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, with the CNN Hero award. Since then, the Hollywood actor has been increasingly involved with the charity which provides 820,000 meals for children in developing countries, every school day.

The charity’s aim is to tackle the underlying cause of poverty – lack of education – by providing impoverished children with meals at their local school. As Butler suggests, Mary’s Meals “is all about respecting and promoting the dignity of these people and their culture and what they are capable of”.
