4 year old leukaemia sufferer, Emily Ladicka-Gahagan, had her wish come true when she met a Disney princess earlier this month.  Emily, from Southend, was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2012 and has been having chemotherapy ever since.

The Disney princess visit was organised by Little Havens Hospice where Emily was visiting for a respite break. The children had a chance to meet Rapunzel, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and Elsa from Frozen

Emily’s mum, Kelly, said “If Emily had one wish it would be to meet Rapunzel, her favourite Disney princess and her idol. Her fascination with Rapunzel began when she lost her hair due to her chemotherapy. I’m not sure if anyone else noticed but it was really sweet when Emily sat playing with Rapunzel’s hair.

I don’t think it’s something that Emily is going to forget and I will never forget the look on her face when Rapunzel approached her and said, ‘Hello Emily’. I think Emily was star-struck to be honest. It really was a special time that we won’t forget.”

The event on May 12 was organised in association with the Essex-based Party Appearance Company. Tracie Woodfine from Party Appearance said: “Little Havens Hospice really is an amazing place, so peaceful in such a beautiful setting.  The princesses – Lucie, Emma and Amanda – and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the children, families and care team. To see the look of joy on all their faces is something we will all remember for a long time to come.”
