A widowed great great grandmother has been sent over 5,000 birthday cards after a Facebook campaign was started by her carers.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Betty had told carers that she wasn’t expecting many cards this year as “most of her friends are dead”.
Ms Marshall, one of Betty’s carers, started the campaign with Betty’s family. She said to the Liverpool Echo: “Betty has made cards all her life, and when I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, she said ‘just a nice card, I love cards’, and that’s how the seed was planted. She’s completely with it, she knows everything that’s going on. But she’ll be very surprised when she gets all these cards on her birthday.”
More than 5,000 cards have been sent to Betty’s care home in the UK from people as far away as Hong Kong and Arizona.
