Saranne Rothberg set up the Comedy Cures Foundation after realising the popular phrase, ‘laughter is the best medicine‘ is popular for a reason.

Diagnosed with cancer in 1999, Saranne started Comedy Cures Foundation from her chemo-chair. Fast-forward to 2015 and Saranne is cancer-free and has held 1,000 comedy events to provide laughter to people – young and old – who are living with an illness. Through the therapeutic comedy programs Comedy Cures Foundation entertain and educate patients, families and caregivers about the benefits of laughter and positive emotions on the body, mind, and spirit.

At one of the comedy events Saranne said, “There was a man here today who, we have been told, has never left his facility except to come to our show the first time. A year later he came back today.” – asked why the man went to the event, he responded, “I laugh
