The bathroom of a children’s respite home in Poole has been transformed by Merlin’s Magic Wand into a bespoke SEA LIFE themed accessible bathroom that transports the children from their everyday life to a new and exciting place.
Merlin’s Magic Wand supports seriously ill, disabled and disadvantaged children by providing days out to Merlin attractions. Some children are faced with conditions and circumstances that prevent them from making the trip. So the Merlin’s Magic Spaces projects bring the unique magic of Merlin to them!
Vikki Slade, from Diverse Abilities, a charity that supports children and adults with profound physical and/or learning disabilities, and their families, in Dorset, said “Having a theme to the bathroom means that it is not only a practical space but a space of discovery and distraction. For some of the children the respite home is the only place they can have a bath as the specialist equipment is expensive and large so to fit out a family home would be almost impossible. The addition of the “bubbles” has transformed the bath from a functional item to a fun and sensory experience.”
