In May 2003 a group of local people raised £65,000, which was used to convert part of a church building into a cafe. It opened in September 2004. Common Grounds cafe began as a desire to reach out to the local and global community. Profits are given away to support humanitarian projects around the world. Food & Drink
Hot food is served throughout the day at the cafe. Located near a university I expected the prices to be a bit lower, but the quality of the food and drink was good. Click here to see the menu.
Common Grounds cafe run a suspended coffee scheme with a twist – you can buy a coffee or soup for a stranger in need, or you can surprise a friend with a meal or dessert!
The cafe is located at 12-24 University Avenue Belfast BT7 1GY.
The opening hours are: Mon – Fri: 8.30am – 9.30pm. Sat: 10am – 5pm. Sun: Closed.
The cafe is a short walk away from Queen’s University, Belfast. The Botanic Gardens is approximately 10 minutes walk away, and the city centre is approximately 20 minutes walk from the cafe.
