Heading to Wimbledon to watch the tennis? Check out the YMCA Wimbledon cafe while you are in the area.

The YMCA Wimbledon cafe is a hidden gem – located upstairs in the YMCA building, it’s not somewhere you would probably stumble upon for a coffee or lunch, but it’s well worth a visit.

A child-friendly cafe with free WiFi (though it wasn’t working the day I visited), the YMCA Wimbledon cafe is a great alternative to the regular high street chains. It’s pretty big, brightly decorated, and has friendly staff and good food.

The gym (also upstairs) and cafe are part of YMCA London South West, a registered charity that has been in part of the community since 1874. All surpluses from both help to support their work with homeless people, young people and children.

The website says the cafe is ‘a good place to relax after a workout with a cappuccino or panini and you can check your emails with the free WiFi‘.

A cappuccino costs £2.20

I skipped the workout and went straight to the cafe to enjoy a cappuccino and panini! Both cost around the same as they would in the high street chains, but – in my opinion – tasted better than what is usually available there. I particularly enjoyed the panini, which tasted like it has been made with love and care.

The panini, which came with a salad and crisps, cost £4
